Maelbeek station to reopen on Monday with memorial wall

Maelbeek metro station in Brussels, which has been closed since the terror attacks one month ago, reopens on Monday. There will be a memorial wall where people can leave messages.
“The station has almost recovered,” a spokesperson from local public transport operator STIB told Bruzz. “The places where there is still damage will remain covered.”
“The explosion on 22 March had no impact on the overall stability of the station or its structural elements. The repair work mainly consisted of fixing up the masonry, tiling and paint, in addition to replacing some of the equipment,” she said.
Initially there will be a memorial wall installed in the ticket hall, where passers-by can leave a message. A commemorative artwork by Belgian artist Benoît van Innis will be added to the station at a later date.
