
In 2015, nearly 15 million international tourists visited the Netherlands, an increase of 7% compared to the previous year, according to a report that NBTC Holland Marketing released on Tuesday. Nearly 2 million tourists to the Netherlands last year came from Belgium, which puts the country in second place, writes De Standaard.

The majority of tourists to the Netherlands last year came from Germany, with more than 4.2 million visitors, an increase of 10% from a year earlier. The UK dropped one position to third place, with more than 1.9 million visitors.

The number of Chinese tourists to the Netherlands rose significantly in 2015, to about 300.000 visitors, 21% more than the year before.
Belgian tourists are drawn to many Dutch attractions, such as Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum, canal-side mansions and tulip fields.
