Old post office at Brussels Central Station to become bar and restaurant

The City of Brussels has given the green light to a renovation project that involves transforming the former post office at Brussels Central Station into a bar and restaurant. The establishment, to be called Central Park, will serve drinks and Belgian cuisine to a clientele of mostly commuters, writes Brusselnieuws.
Central Park’s location near the main entrance of the station means it will be able to serve a wide variety of customers, including commuters who want to have breakfast there from as early as 8.00. It will also serve traditional Belgian cuisine for lunch and dinner, such as chicons au gratin and stoemp. Commuters can also just stop by the bar for a cocktail or a beer in between train rides.
According to the architectural firm leading the project, the restaurant should not create more competition for the businesses in and around the station, which serve a total of about 60,000 commuters daily. “We looked at the offer in the area, and found that it’s mainly fast food,” architect and project manager Olivier De Meulemeester told Brusselnieuws.
Central Park will open sometime between July and September.
