The City of Brussels has launched a photo contest around the theme of the new pedestrian zone, inviting amateur and professional photographers to send in their best shots of “life in central Brussels’ new pedestrian zone during the summer of 2015”, writes brusselnieuws.be.
A jury will nominate the best 15 photos after 15 October, and later three finalists. Their assessment will be based on originality, artistic merit, technique and how well the photos illustrate the theme.
The public will then be given an additional two weeks to cast their vote for the favourite entry.
There are four prizes: the jury-selected winner gets 200 postcard-size reproductions of his or her own photo, while the public prize winner gets 100. The second prize is a personal photo face mounted on acrylic in A2 format, and the third prize consists of 12 prints of photographs by Dutch photographer Cas Oorthuys.
