More than 200,000 people visited the Brussels Atomium this summer. It is only the third time since the monument’s reopening in 2006, that it exceeds the milestone of 200,000 visitors, reported the Atomium on Thursday in a press release.
In the months of June, July and August this year, 201,280 visitors entered the Atomium, an increase of 9.5% compared to the same period last year.
Between January and August, 2015, the Brussels landmark brought in nearly half a million visitors.
Not since the reopening in 2006 and the 50th anniversary in 2008 did the giant molecule-shaped building attract so many visitors.
The highest number of visitors came from Belgium, followed by France, Germany, Spain and Italy.
