On Saturday, the Brussels Mobility and Public Works Minister Pascal Smet opened a structure for outdoor work-outs in the Maximilien Park in Brussels.
This is the only project of its type in Brussels, and will allow people to discover street work-out. This work-out originated in Eastern Europe, and combines athletics and gymnastics. It mainly uses the athlete’s own weight.
During the opening of the sports equipment, members of Wolf’s Bar, the first official street work-out club in Brussels, gave a demonstration. There was also a mini-tournament. The head of the club wants to convince a large number of young people in Brussels to start street work-out. He says it’s a sport, but also a lifestyle. It lets young people “spend their free time doing something constructive, rather than hanging out in the street”.
