Free University of Brussels (ULB) has announced that it is launching a help desk for students on the subject of sexual intimidation.
The movement is a response to recent social media action “Me, too” which consisted of revelations about sexual intimidation and harassment in Hollywood
The idea for the department, which is due to launch by the end of the month, is directly based on the number of ULB students who described their own experiences with sexual intimidation on social media, particularly Facebook. Students reported experiences ranging from inappropriate comments to obscene gestures to outright physical harassment, including on campus.
“The idea is to create connections in every faculty between students, researchers and administrative workers,” said ULB vice-rector Laurent Licata.
