The transport authority held an online poll, and just over 50% of Brussels people voted for the silver style.
43 new metro trains are being constructed by Spanish transport manufacturer CAF. The look was created by Belgian designer Axel Enthoven.
Some of the new metro trains will be part of the new metro line 3, while some will appear on other lines.
New stations are planned in Schaerbeek and Evere. Works begin in 2019, and part of the line will be completed by 2021. The full project is expected to be finished by 2025.
It’s not the first time that Stib has put the design of transport to a public vote. Newer trams have leather rather than cloth seating thanks to its last poll.
