In 2017 Belgium’s federal crisis centre will launch a text messaging system to warn people in the case of a terror attack or natural disaster, writes Het Laatste Nieuws.
“We are still discussing its implementation with the telecom operators,” says the FPS Interior.
The system will use geolocation data to send a text message to everyone located in the danger zone during a natural disaster or terror attack and keep them up to date on the latest developments.
While discussions with the telecom operators are ongoing, the system should be operational in the course of 2017.
