The 4G coverage in Belgium has improved significantly in the last three years, writes TechPulse.
In Wallonia, there are there some areas that still only support outdated 3G technology, according to the FPS Economy’s Information Society Index, which maps changes in the Belgian information society annually. The index reveals Belgium’s digital strengths and weaknesses and compares it with 27 other countries in Europe.
In almost all of Belgium (94.5%), there is access to the fast 4G network, compared to just 67.8% 4G coverage in 2014.
With the increase, Belgium surpasses its neighbouring countries. Mobile provider Orange even provides a 4G network in the Brussels metro.
However, there are still many areas in Belgium where only one or two operators offer 4G coverage, especially in Wallonia which has a lower population density.
