The Dutch House of Representatives has started an initiative to discuss with Belgian authorities banning flights between Brussels and Amsterdam.
The House finds no reason to continue flights as passengers actually lose time for check-in, take-off and landing.
Using train is less time consuming and significantly more environmentally friendly.
The federal economy minister and Brussels’ environment minister both responded positively.
Economy minister Didier Gosuin (Défi) told that “flights over short distances are completely irrational”.
Brussels minister Céline Fremault (CDH) said that Belgium should promote train travel: “That’s why ensuring a democratic price for the train is crucial”.
