Historic cultural agreement between Brussels city and ULB

On Wednesday the city of Brussels and the Free University of Brussels (ULB) signed an agreement to strengthen cultural ties.

It is the first time the city has entered into a cultural partnership with a non-cultural organisation.

Karine Lalieux, alderwoman for culture in Belgium, made a statement and emphasized the importance of encouraging students to participate in the cultural life of the capital. She also said that the City of Brussels will annually allocate funds for the development of joint projects

We will be providing funds every year to develop common projects. The recently completed mural by Gola Hundrun on Building H as part of the Parcours Street Art is a great beginning.”

The agreement will create a framework which will facilitate cooperation and establish an annual program of activities.

“We are thrilled with this cultural partnership, which underlines our will to develop the university’s mission of spreading knowledge and providing services to society,” said ULB Rector Yvon Englebert.
