New Year’s Fireworks at the Atomium instead of the city centre

maxresdefault_7

Brussels’ New Year’s Eve fireworks will be at the Atomium this year and not in the city centre.

The decision to move the fireworks this year is because of repair works on the pedestrian zone.

As well as the redesign of Place de Brouckère itself, there are several major building projects in the area, including the the demolition of Parking 58 and renovation works at the Bpost headquarters and the new ‘The Mint’ shopping centre.

The 31 December party in the city centre typically attracts 100,000 people. The Christmas market, Winter Wonders, opens on Friday.
