Belgians’ are in the 12th place in the world by their ability to speak English.
The global ranking of non-native English-speaking countries was held by Education First, the International Educational Center for English learning.
The Flemish – who were ranked as “very good” – would have been seventh in the league table.
The Scandinavian countries and Singapore are behind Netherlands which is at number one.
Wallonia found itself at “average” 25th place.
“French-speaking Belgium still lags behind Dutch-speaking Belgium,” the study concludes. “There is still work to be done in the teaching and mastering of English among French-speakers.”
The findings are based on data from a million people in 80 countries worldwide.
