tendonitis

According to the annual report of the Federal Agency for Occupational Risks (Fedris), wrist tendonitis has the highest percentage of workplace injury in Belgium.

In 2016, the Agency handled a total of 9,672 applications for recognition of an occupational illness or injury, and nearly a third of these were related to tendinopathy.

In addition to overworked tendons, Belgian employees also suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome, a pinched nerve in the wrist. At places three and four are back problems and respiratory problems.

Of the 9,672 applications received by Fedris last year, 3,100 were recognised as occupational injuries or illnesses. About two-thirds received workers’ compensation benefits, and about 10% receive long-term disability benefits.
