A friendship and cooperation agreement between Brussels-Capital Region and Seoul has been signed in the South Korean capital.
Belgium’s Princess Astrid is leading the economic mission and was crowned as honorary citizen of Seoul.
The friendship agreement has been signed by Brussels-Capital Region’s state secretary, Cécile Jodogne and mayor of Seoul, Park Won-soon.
The agreemment is expected to lead to numerous exchanges between the metropolitan areas, including economic investment, job creation, technological development, social innovation, e-government and urban development.
Initially, it was former Brussels mayor Yvan Mayeur who was to sign the agreement, but his resignation last week following a corruption scandal meant that Jodogne took part in the mission to Seoul.
