Brussels public transport authority STIB this morning installed a second memorial wall in Maelbeek metro station after the first wall was completely covered with messages after only a week, writes Bruzz. The commemorative wall was added to allow passers-by to write messages of hope and mourning after a suicide bomber killed 16 people in the station in March.
According to spokesperson An Van hamme, STIB covered the first wall with plexiglass last weekend in order to preserve all the messages. By Monday, there were post-it notes attached to the glass, which prompted STIB to place a second wall.
The company has not yet decided how long the walls will remain in the station, says Van hamme.
