Toyota will launch its new Mirai fuel cell model in Belgium at the beginning of next year, the company announced. The special five-door vehicle is powered by a fuel cell that runs on hydrogen, and emits only water vapour. Belgium will be the fourth country in Europe where the Mirai is on sale, albeit only a handful of vehicles. So far, there is no fuelling station in Belgium that offers hydrogen.
Toyota Motor Europe therefore has plans to build the country’s first hydrogen fuelling station, on the company grounds in Zaventem. The station will be operated by the Air Liquide Group, which has already designed and built 75 such stations around the world.
The 60-by-20-metre fuelling station is expected to open mid-2016.
