Heavy trucks will not be allowed to enter the city center of Brussels

Trucks weighing more than 7.5 tonnes are to be banned from central Brussels.

The ban applies to all streets within the Pentagon inner ring road. New signs are being put up and the city council is working with sat-nav providers to program alternative routes.

City of Brussels councillor for mobility Els Ampe said: “The historic centre of Brussels is made up of very small, narrow streets with tight turns that are not suitable for heavy goods vehicles.”
She added: “This measure will make the streets safer for all users.”
